My Italian Reward

Meet my little Italian reward.
The other day my husband needed me to rescue him from locking his keys in his car. Afterward I found myself with a little time, a little money, and in close proximity to a thrift store I rarely visit. When I walked in the door this Italian gem was there calling to me as if to say, "Hello, I am your reward for doing a good deed today"----and he said it with a beautiful Italian accent.

How could I resist!

Never Say Never

Lately I find myself drawn to the warm tones of aged brass and antique gold. Funny thing, I distinctly remember writing the words "I'm not a gold kinda gal" in a makeover post about two years ago after I gave a gold item a fresh coat of black paint. Now, while others are relieved to send their "outdated" brass to the thrift store, I'm giddy with glee when I pick up a beautiful piece like this owl bank.Isn't it wonderful that, just like design, we can evolve, change, and reinvent ourselves! And even more wonderful, we can do it despite the choices of others.

DECORATING: Beach House Style in Fairfax, CA

In the Summer 2008 issue of Decorating, a Better Homes & Gardens Special Interest Publication, the design work of Alisha Peterson and Susan Delurgio is featured in a ten page article and highlights their work on a 1,000 square foot beach house. I absolutely love their style and through the article discovered their website, which includes both their retail store and design services. I especially love the wood mirror below!

Favorite Room of the Day-Neutral Bedroom

We like colors most of the time, but we like neutral, quiet colors some of the times too.  It's calming, it's serene, and if you are surrounded by colors and patterns all day long like we are, it's a nice respite.

That's why we're liking this room today.  It's a little boring to some people, but aggh, sometime that's just what you need...

Crazy for Fuschia

We like using fuschia as an accent colors quite a bit lately.  It's not as timid as pink, not as loud as yellow, but  dramatic enough to make a splash.

Here are some of our faves:
