Modern Contemporary Kitchen Design

Modern Contemporary kitchen design gives us a large amount of leeway when it comes to creativity we put into their design. There are several compliance rules that one works fine but once established, a lot of ideas and aesthetics that are available to realize the almost unlimited. And when the food is the main focus of family life, the openness needed to interact with people outside the kitchen is as important as the space needed to float freely in it. Dream Child No1's Artistic Update

Any one that has been following my blog for a little while now will remember a post I did here about my oldest daughter's Year 11 major Art assignment.
She created theses amazing costumes from garbage bags, took some wonderful photo's at an Historical site in Maitland , NSW & then created a book with quotes from Snow White, Peter Pan & some she had written herself. It was titled
"Snow White in Never Land"
This handsome "Lost Boy" is my 7 yr old son

The gorgeous "Tinkerbell" is my 3 year old daughter

The glamorous "Snow White" is one of my daughters friends

Its safe to say they all really enjoyed the whole experience...

As a proud mum I felt I should do an update post to brag let you know she got a whopping
 100%
for her mark on this assignment. Apparently the first art student in the school to receive such accolades,
WOO HOO!!!
She now has friends placing orders for costumes to be made for fancy dress parties!

She is already working toward the next art assignment, which is all about brown paper & she is aiming equally as high for this one too!!!

One Very Cool Arm Chair

It's usually a good idea to add a couple of arm chairs to your living room configuration.  You can do a really fun fabric to punch in some colors ; add some dimensions of the room by varying the height so it's not so flat, and perhaps most importantly, style it up a bit.

Here's a really cool one that we like:

The chair is made by Jessica Charles, a division of Hancock and Moore.  The price depends on the fabric, but it ranges about $1400-1600 or so.

How To Make A Minimalist Home Design?

Following ways minimalist house design there are 16 tips. There are actually no set steps to make your minimalist home, except for changing the philosophy and shoot for the ideals in the previous section above. But here are some tips that I would offer to anyone trying to shoot for minimalism:

  1. One room at a time. Unless you just moved into a place, it is difficult to simplify the whole house at once. Focus on one room, and let that be your center of calm. Use it to inspire you to simplify the next room, and the next. Then do the same thing outside!
  2. Start with furniture. The biggest things in each room is furnished, so you always have to begin simplifying a room by looking at the furniture. Few pieces of furniture, the better (within reason, of course). Think of furniture that can be eliminated without sacrificing comfort and livability. Go to a few pieces of plain, simple furniture (eg, minimalist coffee table) with solid, calm colors.
  3. Only the essentials. Did you see the furniture or anything else in the room, ask yourself if the item is really important. If you can live without it, remove it. Try to strip the room to its core - you can always add a few items outside of the important choices later.
  4. Remove the floor. Except for furniture, floors you should be absolutely clear. Not have to clutter the floor, there is no need stacked, do not have to be stored on the floor. Once you get your furniture down to the bare essence, all is clear again on the floor - either donate it, trash, or looking for a place to get out of sight.
  5. Remove the surface. As with all flat surfaces. Do not have anything on them, except one or two simple decorations (See Tip 9 below). Donate, trash or find an out-of-sight storage for everything else. This will make things much, much more minimal-looking.
  6. Remove the wall. Some people hang all kinds of things on their walls. Nothing can be done in a minimalist home. You clear the wall except for one or two simple pieces of nice artwork (see Tip 8 below).
  7. Store items out of sight. It has been mentioned in the above tips, but you must save everything you need out of sight, in drawers and cupboards. Bookshelves can be used to store books or DVDs or CDs, but should not much longer unless decorations simple (not the entire collection of objects).
  8. Declutter. If you clean a flat surface and floor, and store things in cabinets and drawers, you might want to declutter your storage area as well. You can do this in a later stage if you wish. See How to Declutter more.
  9. Simple work of art. To keep the room so as not boring, you can put a simple painting, drawing or photograph, framed with soft, solid color, on each wall if you want. Leave some walls bare if possible.
  10. Simple decorations. As mentioned in the above tips, one or two simple decorations can serve as accents for a minimalist space. A vase of flowers or small potted plants are two classic examples. If your room has subjected the remaining colors, your accents could use a bright color (like red, or yellow) to draw the eye and give a plain room spark energy.
  11. Plain window treatments. Bare windows, or simple, solid colored curtains, or simple, wooden blinds are good. Too much ornate stuff around the window is chaos.
  12. Plain patterns. Solid colors are best for floor coverings (if you have any), furniture, etc. Complex patterns, such as flowers or checkers, are visual clutter.
  13. Calm colors. As mentioned in Tip 9 above, you can have a splash of bright color in the room, but most rooms have more subtle colors - white and minimalist classical, but really any solid color that does not stress the eyes is good (earth colors come to mind, such as blues, brown, tan, green).
  14. Edit and eliminate. When you've simplified the room, you can probably do more. Give me a few days, then see things with fresh eyes. What can be eliminated? Stored out of sight? What is not important? You can return to their rooms every few months, and sometimes you will find things you can simplify even more.
  15. A place for everything. I've discussed this in other posts, but in a minimalist house, it is important that you find a place for everything, and remember where those places. Where do you blender go? Give the place, and stick with it. Aiming for the logical place close to where it is used, to make something more efficient, but the key is to designate a place.
  16. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. Once you've simplified the room, take the time to look around and enjoy it. It's so peaceful and satisfying. This is the reward for your hard work. good luck
